health and safety information

Indentity cards, Vehicle checks and Workplace checks

There have been several incidents recently in which personal and company property has been stolen at Adastral Park. The Police and BT Security are investigating the incidents and arrests have been made.

We have sought professional advice on the situation and as a result security measures will be stepped up. It is in everybody's interest to ensure that we work in a secure environment and so the following actions will be taken:

Identity cards

Security staff will be checking passcards at buildings on site and on a sample basis validating the details. You will be escorted from the Park if you do not have a valid passcard.

Vehicle checks

Your vehicle must be registered if you work at Adastral Park and you want to use the free car parking facilities. Security staff will be checking vehicles on the Park to enforce this policy.

Workplace checks

Out of hours security checks have shown that people's approach to basic security is poor. Recent examples have included confidential documents being left in open areas, PCs left switched on with no screensaver password protection, and valuable items not locked away. These security checks will continue, to reinforce the message that security is everyone's responsibility.

The recent break-ins have emphasised the need for increased vigilance.

Please remember to wear and display your security pass at all times and challenge people in your workplace who are not. Lock all doors to rooms that are left unattended.

For further guidance, the local BT Security team can be contacted on 01206 893013, although BT people are asked to contact their divisional security co-ordinator in the first instance. BT people can also find further advice at security.intra.bt.com - and should report all losses immediately to the BT security control centre on 0800 321999.
