chess club
The Chess Club organises the following activities:
Every Monday and Thursday there are lunchtime meetings
for informal or formal games. These could be 5-min games,
or anything you want to play. These take place in the B80
Coffee Lounge from 12:00pm - 1:00pm. We normally have a
5-min League throughout the season, and this year we are
hoping to start a Quickplay (30-min) competition.
Every session, we hold a club championship where you get
the chance to play other members of the club under tournament
time controls (1.5 hours per player). The matches are organised
between individual players, and the tournament is normally
run as a 5-round Swiss from October to April.
This is your chance to play in the Suffolk League for the
club (again under tournament time controls). This involves
playing evening matches during the week either here on-site
or in various parts of Suffolk.
This year we will be entering a team in the Suffolk U125
competition. This will involve playing other clubs in Suffolk
for evening matches, but all players will be U125.
These sessions take place in the B80 Coffee Lounge normally
a few days after one of the Suffolk League matches, where
players get a chance to either go over their games or observe
one of the other games. Anyone is welcome to sit on these.
